Samantha's First Five Days

Its been a roller coaster first five days for our family. Monday morning, mommy and daddy went to the hospital early in the morning for the scheduled c-section for Samantha.
At 10:53 in the morning, Samantha Evert Winton was born. She weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces, and was 19 3/4 inches long.

Things were going well at the hospital. Though Samantha had a lot of issues with here blood during the pregnancy, the doctors were checking her blood every 6-8 hours, and everything was looking good. She had plenty of visitors at the hospital. Grandma and Papa Dewitt were there, and Aunt Whitney stopped by, as well as Courtney, Jessica and Katie.

Everyone was doing so well, the ok was given to head home from the hospital on Wednesday. I was so excited to have my family back at home with me. (Thank you to Grandma and Papa Dewitt for taking care of me during this).
Wednesday night went ok for mommy, daddy and Samantha. They said it was a typical first night home from the hospital with a newborn.
Thursday morning Samantha had an appointment with the pediatrician and he said she looked good. He did more blood tests to make sure Samantha's levels were holding level and weren't getting worse.
Mommy and daddy were trying to settle in with her while I was at school.
The pediatrician called with the blood results in the afternoon and it wasn't good- Samantha's bilirubin count had jumped up sharply so he wanted her admitted to the hospital asap. Off went mommy and daddy in a bit of a panic. Grandma Dewitt picked me up from school to help out.
Samantha was quickly given an IV- not a fun process for her or daddy, and then put in the light blankets, top and bottom to help the bilirubin.
Mommy and daddy made sure the Mickey Mouse I gave Samantha was still near her- hanging right next to the IV bag-
The IV made a big difference, because by the evening she was a lot more alert.
She improved so much, she was able to come off the IV and just spend the night in the blankets.
This morning she was given the ok to come out of the blankets, and her blood levels will be rechecked this afternoon when hopefully she can come home again!
